Life At The Bridge 9-24-20

Family is God’s design. Families are where we find purpose and belonging. It’s in the context of family where we grow into the person God destined us to be. Family becomes a safe place, a place where our deepest needs are met and the place where genuine and life-long relationships are forged.

But not all “family” environments are healthy. Family dysfunction is the baseline for TV sitcoms - but it’s not really funny at all. Family is where our most profound joys and our deepest pain often collide. But no matter how difficult “family” might have been, we all still crave the kind of connection that can only come through these vital relationships.

So let’s not discard family, let’s improve it. We really can’t get away from it. God saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone, so God formed a family for him. People are designed to live in community. And whether it is the human family, the community in which we live, the church to which we belong or the biological family we share a home with, we will always be in a family. Let’s discover ways to make it the best it can be.

Join us this Sunday as we kick off the We Are Family series, and plan to hang with us for the next six weeks to learn some powerful principles for aligning our family relationships with the plans of God. Sundays at 9:01 and 11:01am.

LifeGroups are back! And we’re putting a fresh spin on them for this new season. Our hope is that EVERYONE will find a group with whom they can do life together this fall. It’s not too late to join a group or to lead a group.  Click here to fill out a short form and we will contact you and help you get connected to a FAMILY Group that will work for you.

NEW DRIVEWAY: The wait is OVER!! Ever since we moved into our building and started to understand the inconveniences, challenges and even dangers of having a single driveway on M-140, we have dreamed of being able to open a new entrance/exit onto Blue Star Highway. So, here’s the plan. On Sunday mornings, we are encouraging people to use the driveway on M-140 as the entrance to our parking lot and the new driveway as the exit when you leave. If you are heading south (turning right) onto M-140 you may use the current driveway, but for all other traffic we are encouraging you to go out to Blue Star. This will help our traffic team to help you. I’m excited to see how this works.

Eight O’ Clock Encounter: We are in the process of making some huge staffing decisions here at LifeBridge and I invite you to gather with us to seek God’s favor, wisdom and direction for the future of our church. Whether you can meet us on Saturday mornings or not, please be in prayer for these crucial decisions.

BRIDGE BABIES: Until now, we have not had nursery services for our guests due to COVID related challenges. But now we are getting ready to provide loving care for our youngest Lifers during our weekend services! If you are interested in serving in our nursery, please contact Nate and Alicia by emailing them at [email protected]

Family In Need: Last week, the home of Kevin and Andrea Tait burned. It is likely a total loss. The Taits are close friends of several Lifers and the parents of Lifer, Jamie Manning. I can’t imagine what they will go through as they grieve all the items of sentimental value they have lost. Over the next few weeks they will also need to replace/purchase all kinds of necessity items. Here’s how you can help. LifeBridge would like to show them the love of Jesus by showering them with gift cards for things like food and clothing. You may buy gift cards to local stores or restaurants and drop them in the Blessing Box at LifeBridge on Sunday, or drop them off at the RE/MAX office in South Haven located at 250 Broadway St (M-F, 9am-5pm) between now and 9/27. Don’t underestimate the power of prayer. Please also help us lift this family before the Lord as they find their way forward.

Each week more and more Lifers are returning. If you do not feel comfortable to return yet, know that we love and miss you, but we respect your decision. You are still an important part of our church family and we look forward to seeing you when you are ready. In the mean-time, feel free to check in by filling out a connection card any time. Let us know how you are doing and if there is any way we can serve you.
