Life At The Bridge 7-31-20

I have had so many conversations with people in the last week and I walk away from lots of them thinking…”Wow, we are all STRESSED out.” People are angry, frustrated, tired…But Jesus said, “I tell you this so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Do you feel trapped in this mess? Do you sometimes feel like a slave to your emotions? Do you want to shake some of these feelings, but feel like that’s impossible? You may even feel like a slave to all of the problems around you. But maybe you are only a slave to the way you feel about them. Hmmm. Maybe you just know someone else who is feeling this way and you want to help them, but just aren’t sure how. Jesus, who has overcome, wants us to be overcomers.
I heard a quote this week from a world-renowned psychologist. “When you read the Bible, it’s like the one who wrote it knew something about the mind.” God’s Word gives us powerful insights for how to win the battles that rage in our minds. God wants you to experience peace of mind and this Sunday we will explore some of the principles and practices for victory from God’s Word.

The 9:01 service will be a “Masks Required” service. If you are here during that service, you will be expected to keep a face covering on.

The 11:01 service will be a “Masks Recommended” service - still important for the wellbeing of our people, but we will be a little more lenient about wearing them at all times especially for those with medical conditions that make wearing a mask more difficult. Please remember that a face covering is not just for you out of interest for your own safety. It is a sacrifice all of us are making out of love and concern for one another and as an added layer of protection for our ability to continue to meet at all. Sacrifice isn’t sacrifice at all if we simply do something when it is easy or convenient. Let’s all do our part to decrease the risk.

No matter which service you choose, don’t forget to click here to Save Your Seat. You will need to make a reservation for everyone attending, even children. And if you are not ready to return yet, you can continue to catch the service LIVE online at 9:01am on any of our online venues listed below.

Whether you come to LifeBridge or watch online, remember that we “gather” to worship, to celebrate, to grow and to serve. At times during this COVID interruption, it seems that we may have lost sight of the purpose of being the Church - the gathered people of God. I encourage you to continue to reach out to one another to love, serve and encourage. And remember that we have a mission as the people of God to be a light in this dark world. We look forward to serving and seeing you soon.

Hey Bridge Kids families, Our BK team is so excited to be able to lead and encourage our youngest Lifers in person again. Bridge Kids will be available when we reopen during the 11:01 service. We hope to offer Bridge Kids during both services soon, but we just don’t have the staff team to cover both services right now. If you are not already on a serving team, consider investing your time and talents in these beautiful little lives by joining our team. With our two-service format, you can serve one and attend one. To initiate a conversation about serving, please email [email protected]

It’s been a long time since we were all together and a lot has happened - and a lot IS happening at LifeBridge. You may have heard tidbits here and there, but we want to make sure you get the whole scoop. We will share important information with our church family and we want to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Join us on Monday August 3rd or Wednesday August 12 at 6:30pm. We will record the sessions and make a video version available for those who cannot make it. Keep your eyes open for more details.

Eight O’ Clock Encounter: For us, prayer is not just some rudimentary exercise we engage because it is the right thing to do. The scriptures speak often of God’s desire for His people to seek Him, trust Him, and look to Him for help and direction. If we truly believe that this is God’s Church and we are His people, Prayer becomes an act of faith that correctly positions us to place our trust in Him. Meet us at the church Saturday mornings at 8am.
