Life At The Bridge 02-20-2020
This last Sunday our guest speaker, Ken Riley, ended his message with a compelling proclamation of discipleship by a missionary from Zimbabwe. Several people asked about it after church, so I thought I would include it for all of you here. This is the content of the note found next to this missionary’s martyred body: I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low-living, sight-walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power. My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear. I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won't give up, shut up, or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He'll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear! Of course we are inspired by these powerful words, but these sentiments are not just for radicals. By the grace of God, any of us can aspire to such great faith! Click here to watch more of Ken’s message or to find any of our recent past messages. Join us this Sunday at 10:00 or 11:30am as we resume the God’s Top Ten series with Commandment number 3. Camp! Can you believe it’s already time to be thinking about camp. If you are interested in camp or know a young person (grades 4-12) who may be, click here to go to the Lake Ann website where you can get any information you need or even go ahead and register for camp. We are organizing and will provide transportation for week 4 (July 6-11). Some of you have been faithful to help us raise scholarship funds for camp. Lake Ann is a bit on the expensive side, but we have chosen this camp experience for LifeBridge students for many reasons. We truly believe Lake Ann consistently produces an outstanding adventure and spiritual experience for young people at such a critical stage of life. If you would like to help us make opportunities for kids to afford camp, please click here to go to our online giving portal where you can make a contribution to our camp scholarship fund. The youth have spoken - a lock in is coming! All youth 6th-12th grade are invited to join us a we venture to Craig's Cruisers Grand Rapids on Friday, March 20th for a night of unlimited activities, food, and fellowship. We will be gathering with other local youth groups at their annual event. We plan to meet at church at 8pm and return for a pancake breakfast around 5:30am, with student pick up at 6am (Saturday, 3/21). Cost for this event is $30, scholarships are available. You will not want to miss this event! Please contact Erin Mills ([email protected]) or Beth Mann ([email protected]) with questions. (A transportation waiver must be on file for any minor traveling with the group. Please download and return the attached form if one is not already on file for this year.) Becky Steiner has served in our Bridge Kids ministry for the last several months, but will be wrapping up her time at LifeBridge next week. We know that many of you have been blessed by her leadership and ministry so we wanted to provide an opportunity for the church family to say a proper good-bye. Plan to stop in on Sunday, March 1st from 3:00-5:00pm in The Landing at the church. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to wish her well. |
